The 2012 Major League Baseball season will be the 112th common season in Major League Baseball involving both the American and National Leagues. With the current labor contract expiring after the 2011 season, an expanded playoff format adding two clubs is a possibility for 2012.

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game’s 83rd edition will be held on July 10th at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City,Missouri. The Civil Rights Game will be held at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia.
Some Changes for the 2012 Major League Baseball Season
If it takes place since their contract is up after the 2011 Season
Miami Ballpark
Assuming it is completed in time, the Florida Marlins will vacate Sun Life Stadium and move into their new ballpark, the Miami Ballpark, where they will promptly rename themselves the Miami Marlins.
The 2012 season will also be the 100th Anniversary of Boston’s Fenway Park after being built in 1912. In addition, DodgerStadium, which opened in 1962 and is located in the Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles, will celebrate its 50th Anniversary.
New Uniforms
It has been confirmed that two teams will make wholesale changes of their uniforms.
The Marlins will unveil their changes on November 11, 2011 (11/11/11) as the team is being rebranded as the Miami Marlins, whilst the Toronto Blue Jays will also have new uniforms available, looking to become more like “Canada’s Team”.
Patches
It’s expected that the Marlins, Mets, Astros, Dodgers, Red Sox and Royals will wear commemeritive patches for their special seasons (new ballpark for Miami, 50th Anniversary logos for the Mets and Houston, ballpark anniversaries for the Red Sox and Dodgers and the All-Star Game for the Royals.)
